Why Youtube Shorts Not Getting Views

In today’s world, YouTube is one of the most popular streaming services, a platform charged with content of all kinds, including music, educational videos, and even short films. - When YouTube Shorts debuted in 2020, they promised to be a hit. Shorts are like short-form videos, mostly 3 minutes in length or less. They could be anything from cooking tutorials to lip-sync videos to funny skits, and promised to be a way for creators to quickly, effectively get their content seen by viewers.
So why are YouTube Shorts not getting the views that creators were hoping for?
The main issue seems to be how YouTube structures its recommendation algorithms. YouTube Shorts are placed into the same algorithm as regular videos, meaning that if someone were searching for, say, a tutorial video, they wouldn’t necessarily be directed to a Short over an 8-minute video from the same creator. This means that viewers are not being encouraged to watch Shorts, or explore them, or find them.
Another issue is that YouTube Shorts don’t have their own search bar, nor their own dedicated page on the platform. This makes it much harder for viewers to stumble on a Short accidentally, greatly reducing the chances of them being discovered. This is a shame, because many of the Shorts that have been uploaded to YouTube are actually really great – but without a way to easily find them, viewers tend to just stick with regular videos.
Finally, YouTube Shorts has a couple of technical and usability issues. Since they're much shorter than regular videos, they don’t offer a lot of time for monetization. Additionally, creators may also find it difficult to get started with Shorts, as elements like editing and adding titles and subtitles can be difficult.
All in all, YouTube Shorts are a great idea – unfortunately, they’re not receiving the attention they deserve due to a few technical and usability issues. There’s still a lot of potential for the platform, but creators and YouTube need to work together to fix some of the issues and make sure viewers can easily find and view Shorts.
